Accessibility Statement

This statement was last updated on [8/31/25].

What web accessibility is

HostaMystery.com is committed to making our website accessible and usable for everyone, including people with disabilities. We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA wherever feasible and to continuously improve our content and features.

Measures we take

  • Use semantic HTML with clear headings, lists, and landmarks.

  • Maintain sufficient color contrast and scalable text.

  • Ensure all functionality is operable by keyboard alone.

  • Provide alt text for meaningful images and avoid using images of text.

  • Add captions to videos and provide transcripts when possible.

  • Label form fields and interactive controls; provide visible focus states.

  • Avoid autoplaying media and flashing content; give users control over motion.

Compatibility

Our site is designed to work with current versions of major browsers (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge) and on common assistive technologies including screen readers (e.g., NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver) and built-in platform accessibility features.

Known limitations

Despite our best efforts, you may encounter some issues, such as:

  • Older posts that are missing alt text or have imperfect heading structure.

  • Some embedded third-party content (e.g., video players, social embeds) that we do not control and which may not fully meet WCAG criteria.
If you find a specific problem, please let us know so we can fix it or provide an accessible alternative.

Alternative formats

If you need content in an alternative format (e.g., a transcript, plain-text version, or captioned video), we will do our best to provide it within a reasonable timeframe.

Feedback and contact

Accessibility is an ongoing effort. If you experience any barriers on HostaMystery.com, please contact us:

  • Use the contact form on this site.

  • Describe the issue: the page URL, assistive technology/browser you’re using, and the problem you encountered.

We aim to acknowledge feedback and propose a solution or timeline in a reasonable time frame.

Assessment approach

We review accessibility using a mix of methods: manual checks, keyboard-only testing, screen reader spot-checks, and automated tools (e.g., axe, Lighthouse) prior to major updates and periodically thereafter.

Third-party services

Our site may link to or embed services operated by others (e.g., video hosting platforms). We cannot guarantee their conformance but will select accessible options when available and provide alternatives when feasible.

Requests, issues, and suggestions

If you are dissatisfied with our response, you may escalate by replying to our acknowledgement email with “Accessibility Escalation” in the subject line. We will escalate internally and respond with next steps.
